Edward (“Ed”) S. Cox is a twenty-five year, AV-rated lawyer with experience in matters involving business and fiduciary litigation, real estate litigation and transactions, commercial and residential construction transactions and litigation, general civil litigation (state and federal), commercial and personal bankruptcy, insurance coverage, employment law, parole representation and bail bond law.

Mr. Cox has authored articles and lectured on “Perfecting Lien and Bond Claims,” “Design/Build Contracts,” “Alternative Dispute Resolution in Texas,” (Harris County Justice of the Peace Annual Retreat, 1999), and co-authored “What to Structure and When” (Houston Bar Association’s Civil Court Ad Litem Institute, 1994-’98). Ed served on the Board of Directors of the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center (Chair, Legislation Subcommittee) in 1998 and 1999. He worked actively with Judge Tom Lawrence lobbying for an alternative dispute resolution bill that ultimately became law and amended §152.003 of the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code during the 76th Texas Legislative Session, and appeared before the Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations in his lobbying efforts. He is a member of the Texas and American Bar Foundations, has served as a member and officer of the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court, Treasurer of the Fort Worth – Tarrant County Young Lawyers’ Association, and is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association, Arlington Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas (Litigation and Construction Law Sections), and the American Bar Association (Forum on the Construction Industry, Business Law and Litigation Sections). Mr. Cox is admitted to practice before all state courts in Texas (1995), the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

He is a native of Newburgh, New York. He graduated from University of North Texas in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1995, He graduated from South Texas College of Law, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Appellate Advocacy, was selected as a national member of the Order of Barristers, served as President of South Texas’ Board of Advocates, was the brief writer and an oralist for South Texas’ team in the Sutherland Cup National Moot Court Competition and its National Championship Team in the Tulane Mardi Gras Invitational National Moot Court Competition, and was the recipient of an advocacy scholarship.
